How to confirm: look at the shut-off valve or pipe fitting at your main water entry point — the size is almost always stamped directly on the fitting. A 1" nominal pipe has an outside diameter of approximately 1.315" (33.4mm).

How to confirm: a 1.5" nominal pipe has an outside diameter of approximately 1.9" (48.3mm). Less common in standard residential — if you are unsure, your pipe is most likely 1". The 1.5" is typically found in custom builds, larger homes, and commercial or wellness facility installations.
